The final time sheets only ever tell half a tale. The second of the two day official GP2 Barcelona test was a day of red flags and a ten minute dash to the chequered flag but, despite this, it was for DPR DirexivT a very positive day.
Piccione's race engineer and DPR Direxiv Team Manager, Andy Miller, was a happy man at the end of the test. "It's gone really well for both cars and was a good test for the team. We've come away with a very good set up for both qualifying and the race, and a good idea on race strategy for here at Barcelona.
"Both Clivio and Olivier have worked well, been as quick as anyone else, and most importantly learnt how to bring in and when to push on their new tyres. We're much happier than we were at the end of our last test at Paul Ricard, and this together with the amount of data we've gained gives us a good deal of confidence going into the first race at Valencia."
Too many red flags to mention caused the bid for a quick time on the second day of the test session to be something of a lottery. Both DPR Direxiv drivers fell foul of this and ended the day in 12th and 15th positions.
