September 7 th, 8 th, 9 th, Donington Park in the United Kingdom hosted the sixth round of the 2007 World Series by Renault Championship
Friday 7 th, Free Practice
The car didn’t feel right from the start of the weekend for Clivio, with the two hours running throughout the day Clivio and the team made many adjustments to the car and decided on one route of focus which improved the car as the session progressed.
Saturday 8 th, Qualifying
Due to the limited running on Friday the team worked on the set up of the car overnight along with Clivio in order to improve. “The adjustments we made overnight are an improvement to what I had yesterday, the car is going pretty well, I am suffering from under steer as I cannot get any temperature into the front tyres.” Said Clivio, who was running 3 rd until the red flag came out. Clivio re-started the session on new tyres, posting times good enough for 5 th and 6 th on the grid as every driver in the session improved their time. “The car was behaving much better and I was able to start pushing. On my last run things were going well into the lap until someone spun in front of me and brought out the yellow flags. I of course slowed down but none of the other drivers did so I ended up being 10 th in group, should have been top three for sure”. Reported Clivio
Saturday 8 th, Race 1
“I made a good start and went around the outside of the first corner, Redgate, picking up positions and then heading into the Crainer Curves I was hit in the back by Kimball who I think was hit by Herck” said Clivio “the hit from behind was quite big, it spun me in to the grass and ended my race.”
Sunday 9 th, Race 2
Due to being taken out in the first three corners of the first race Clivio started the second race from 30 th place on the grid. “We made some more improvements to the car overnight which made the car feel so much better, in the first lap I overtook 10 cars, I had so much confidence in the car and it was getting better every lap. By half way through the race I was up to p16, I was coming up to Pippa Mann and by Redgate I divided up the inside under braking, I unfortunately hit her rear right wheel which put me onto the grass” continued Clivio, “from the accident I got a puncture and my front suspension was broken.”
”Up to that point my car was great, it is a shame to start from 30 th because you have to attack, which I enjoyed, but it is a shame it didn’t work out”.
Clivio’s next race will be at the Magny-Cours circuit in France on the weekend of 23 rd September, 2007.
